I was experimenting with ebook loaning through my local library system, and this was one of the few books available for immediate download without getting on a waiting list. It seemed like it might be a decent read, and I was impatient to try out the system. It was a good choice. The world of the Game really engaged me, and I could identify with some of Kid's concerns. I thought it was an interesting choice to give her a nickname like Kid, making her sort of this everyman character. The book teeters between a 3 and a 4 for me in the ratings, and I went with a 3 here mostly because it felt like the book had a slow build that I liked and then raced to tie up everything in just a few pages. I was left feeling kind of rushed with the whole thing. I would definitely read another book set in this world, and I'd enjoy knowing more about the history of the Game and how it all works.
